As of January 30, 2012, new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations began to require all CDL holders to self-certify their expected type of commercial driving to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) prior to any issuance of a commercial driver license (CDL). If a CDL holder self-certifies Non-Excepted Interstate, the driver must also submit a completed medical examiners certificate (MECert). The MECert is also known as a "DOT card" or "med card". It is the card many CDL holders are already required to carry at all times when driving commercial motor vehicles. Read more >>>
